Happy Dance

Well, after six days, Griffin went back to school today.  Here's what I did in my kitchen after he left for school.




Spent the day going through Christmas presents and realized one kid has WAY more than the other.  I hate that!  It's hard to make it even!  My jumbo ebay listing week has started out slow with only one measly bid for an item at 9.99.  ugh.  

My new fancy shoes have really helped my heel!  However, my knee is now killing me.  Fun times. 

My hair is graying up so fast it isn't even funny.  My bangs are almost long enough to tuck behind my ear but I'm telling you, it is very difficult to keep my hands off my scissors.  I'm not sure if I'm going to like no bangs but I'm going to try it and see if it makes my life any easier.

My art projects have suffered lately!  I'm having trouble finding the time to work on them.  Finished up three yesterday, what you think?

Here's my Christmas decor so far!

Here's burke's room!  The last pic highlights the cord problem but what do you do?!  I've got to get some Velcro ties or something. 

Busy weekend ahead?  I'm going to start my rug cleaning & moving project, should be fun!  Can't get over that thanksgiving is next week, where does the time go anyway?  

I had enough of Burke's bed in the closet!  So today was all about his room. I'm too tired & it's too dark to take a pic but he now has a proper bed placement!  Yeah!  Of course, the majority of my day was spent trying to fasten his desk to the wall. Needless to say, LOTS of holes to patch. On a trip to Lewis for yet more wall anchors, I had to make a quick sneak into GW.  Bad idea. Now I've got an 8 x 10 plushy rug to clean!  I CANNOT resist a decent sized rug. It's really plushy. I'm in love.

My "snow" Christmas craft!  Strung up some cotton balls to hang in the window. Might be the only snow we see for awhile. I think it's adorbs. 

I took these the other day with the big fancy camera.  

I finished my entry but can't seem to capture a good shot of it.  I'll keep trying.  

These are my best thrift find in awhile.  From Germany, designed by Nagel.  Apparently, very mid century modern.  I'm listing them this week on Ebay.  

Wow. 4 days of no school. I'm pooped. Can't get my own computer for Petes sake. Working on a Christmas craft right now but will show that later. For now, here's a modified treasure!  Was a bird feeder, now a mod "light fixture"!  I could put in lighting but am happy with it plain for now. I can't trust the wiring in this ceiling from that leak that lasted for years. What do u think of it?

Of course. I hate the door color now and have to replace light switch. Ugh. More to do.

Hmm, wonder if johns computer settings are off? Here's my entry progress from yesterday...

And here's the new couch!  It's a sectional that's called elephant gray and although I'm not a huge fan of the back pillow cushions, that's ok for now. It's HUGE. Way bigger than I was anticipating but that's ok too because I love the color!  The huge ottoman came with it for free!  Score. 

Thoughts?

So, john requested our orange lounge-y couch be moved to his hipster real estate office. I agreed on one condition. I get a replacement. Duh. So Friday, the orange is out and a delicious new couch will be added!  Cannot wait!  John said my blog photos are huge and hard to see. Is this true?  I'm blogging from my phone most of the time so let me know k?  

Below is the inspiration for what I want to do to our entry. The actual front closet is being used for johns clothes and there's no room for all our stuff. I think it would make the entry look bigger too!  I love projects. 

Hope everyone had a fab Halloween!  We laid low. Burke went with a group of friends trick or treating and Griffy, John & I watched a stupid scary movie. Can't wait til tomorrow to play with new couch!

Glad everyone is ok in Maine today!  Earthquake. Crazy. Here in SD, it's just plain dry. It has made it a beautiful fall though!  Check out the deep red on our maple in the back.

Ok, so before with new lath on risers and after with new wood on treads!  

Wow, nice crooked shot. I'm staired out. Its not perfect by any means but I love the new look!  

Bah-bam!  Lath stained a variety of colors and nailed in!  I really really like it!  I need to touch up white treads but can't decide if I should stick with white or switch it to something else. Thoughts on everything please!  

Pinterest has a bevy of recipes for gluten free stuff and in the crockpot no less!  I'm addicted to my crockpot. Here's the latest, GF lasagna. It was a.a.h.-m.a.z.i.n.g.  

Gonna try crockpot GF banana bread this week too!  

I'll be starting a staircase project tomorrow. It involves the back riser portion but that's all the info I'm releasing at this time. Hah!. Found a photo of a staircase with the right side railing and spindles removed. I want to do this so badly!  Why won't anyone agree with me!?  It's more modern looking!

FYI, I'm not painting, stenciling or wallpapering my risers either. But the pic of these are cute too!  I'll keep you posted on mine, hoping it won't take too long or hurt my back too badly either!
